Sheepdog? Not in Japan!![]() I originally read this story in a certain British daily tabloid, but I won't link you there. If they won't let bloggers link their images, I'm not gonna plug them. Instead, check the story here Update: Turns out we ALL got scammed - THIS STORY WAS A HOAX Google, I thought you were my friend!Damn you, Google. I've been singing your praises all over the interweb, and what do you do? You lost ALL the settings for my google personalised homepage. I had all my feeds and EVERYTHING set up there. Bookmarks, all kinds of stuff. Okay, so it's all duplicated in various places, but that's not the point. It took me ages to get it all the way I liked it, so I could easily get to ANY of my web activities. Ah well, back to square one. Labels: google, lost settings, rant Monday, 23 April 2007Sunday, 22 April 2007Too much data! AARRGGHH!![]() Okay, so it's just a pillow....but it's cool! I want one! Shamelessly stolen from Neatorama, who got it from Anita, who got it from Keetra's Blog via Make Can you Smile in Simlish?Lily Allen can...she's sung a version of her happy-bouncy popsong "Smile" in Simlish. I suppose it's an advert for EA's Sims range of software. Either way it's quite amusing! After doing a little scouting around, I discovered that blog novels don't really get a massive amount of traffic, and I wondered why. So I went off to read my own with an open mind. You know what? It was really quite difficult to do. So I thought I'd give potential readers another option. So, inspired (again) by AcidBurn133, I pootled along to fanfiction.net, compiled the first 14 posts of Lucien's journal into one document and called it Chapter 1. I then hastily cobbled together another few posts, the latest of which has a reference to acidburn's own Heroes fanfic (a little nod of the head) entitled "Some family we've got". Those next few posts then became the sneak preview of the work-in-progress Chapter 2. Saturday, 21 April 2007Put down your guns and STOP ITMood: Almost ashamed to be human. This is out of character for me to voice such an opinion here in my nice, friendly blog, but... An open letter to everyone in the world: What the hell is WRONG with you? Stop it. STOP IT NOW! Seriously, I mean it. Will you all please put down your guns and knives and just STOP KILLING EACH OTHER? I don't care what race you are, or where you live, or what your reasons are for killing. I really don't. Just stop it. Stop it now. Please? Labels: guns, no more gun crime Monday, 16 April 2007Big shout-out is due!Yes, a big shout-out is due to "DeasNuts" over at for giving Lucien's Journal a mention, and for putting a snippet of Lucien's first post on his site's Fanfic Page.Much appreciated, fella, that's a pretty cool site you got yourself there! It doesn't appear to be working yet, but I'll give it a day before removing it in frustration! You may notice that the sidebar over there has changed a little....I've added links for all my favourite sources of eclectica, technica and mentalia. To anyone who doesn't speak Made up latin, that means eclectic stuff, geeky stuff and mad stuff. Enjoy! Labels: blogging, tag cloud, technorati, update Hand dryer? It's a shame they've done away with Traffic Checking, but I LOVE the Burnout Chains. My only complaint? Sometimes it's hard to identify which are the more capable cars in one's garage. All you have is the name of the car, and the sequence changes from race series to race series. Still, Zesty and I have been playing it pretty solidly for a few days now, and we're only 50% of the way through the game....it's quite tricky! Wednesday, 4 April 2007Changes to the HerobaseOkay, so I'm in the process of moving the Herobase to my various Google services. It's much neater, easier to update (some of it, anyway) And at some point, I'll be inviting other people to collaborate on the project. You can see the prototype of Herobase Central at http://herobase.googlepages.com And don't forget to check in on Lucien's story at http://lucien-overseer.blogspot.com Sunday, 1 April 2007Showing off! It's showing off, I know, but inspired by the Heroes TV show, and some fan art over at superhiro.org I made this little animated GIF image displaying my extraordinary ability to liquefy metallic objects by touch. I posted it a little while ago over on my live space, but I'm so proud of it I thought I'd repost it here. Forgive me my little indulgences, won't you? :-) ![]() Labels: heroes, liquefaction Children of MenI just watched "Children of Men". To me, it feels like I've just invited the director, Alfonso Cuaron around to my house and let him beat me about the head and body with a velveteen morningstar. I was blown away after watching "The Prestige" last week, but seriously, Children of Men is probably the most intensely exciting and emotive film I have EVER SEEN!! On a one to ten scale, I'm giving it several gazillion. Seriously, watch this film. Go watch it now. I mean it. I swear, if the scene with the soldiers at the end doesn't make you bawl your eyes out like a big sobbing girly baby, you must be a robot or an inanimate carbon rod. My current active projects: Outside of My Mind - my Windows Live space This will be phased out as both my readers migrate their way over here to blogger. World of Slippy - this blog! Well, duh! The Herobase - A database index of observed Heroes information. Yup, everything I can glean from NBC's wonderful "Heroes" TV series. At the moment, I've only indexed the first three episodes and some ancilliary information, but I plan to have it all complete before season 2 airs. And hey, season 1 hasn't even finished yet. And now, introducing (*fanfare*) Overseer - the journal of Lucien Redwood It's a kind of Heroes fanfic in blog form. I've got a rough idea of how the story's going to go, and I've got a lot planned for Lucien, the central character. In his first post, he gives away a little about his world and gets a rather unsettling visit from a couple of familiar (and one almost-familiar) faces. His second post should appear some time tomorrow, and you will learn WHY he's just started writing his journal. All that, a girlfriend and a 9 to 5 factory job too! Sheesh! Labels: heroes, live space, overseer, projects Hello again, world.Ah, a crisp new blog space, all ready for me to put my mark all over it. Many times, I have tried to start a new blog, and every time I have gone a-scampering back to my Windows Live space (you can see it here). This time, I promise I will not be seduced back by the flashing lights and twinkling gadgets. |
